Oil Industry Consulting

I have Masters degree in Petroleum Engineering from Heriot Watt University’s Institute of Petroleum Engineering.

For 15 years, I ran a variety of upstream oil and gas operations for BP in the UK, Azerbaijan, and Norway. I have extensive experience in oil & gas operations management and safety leadership and hold an Offshore Installation Manager qualiication. I’m available for short-term consultancy work, and I’m internationally mobile.

Energy Economics

I also working for a Masters degree in Energy Economics from Dundee University’s Centre for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law and Policy. My field of interest is in steady state economics (made accessible in Tim Jackson’s excellent Prosperity without Growth), alternative currencies, and the Transition Movement.

Social Reform

I’m active in the area of reforming society in preparation for energy depletion, and help out at Transition Town Dundee in the Economics group. I also do pro bono business development work for the good folks at The Ark Nursery Dundee social enterprise, helping to make the best quality Early Years Development available for all families.

My site offers two features. The linked list is a is a daily list of interesting links and brief commentary, updated frequently but not frenetically. Call it a “link log”, or “linkblog”, or just “a good way to mess around on the Internet for a few minutes a day”. The blog offers longer pieces on subjects in which I have an interest.
